2008 Awards

Each year we present a Robert Hawkins Award to one individual for his or her outstanding contribution to mental health awareness and service.

In 2008, Mental Health America of Pueblo honored Helga Meyer of Spanish Peaks Mental Health Center for her many years of service in Pueblo.

Helga served on the MHAP Board as treasurer for six years, but “Treasurer” does not begin to circumscribe the vast amount of service she has performed for us. Through her written excellence Helga also served the greater community and guided many readers to a greater understanding of mental health issues and services.

At our 2008 Annual Tribute MHAP also presented Mission Awards to Sen. Abel Tapia and to Friendly Harbor volunteer Mary Juanita Trujillo for their service to mental health consumers and providers.

Please see photo gallery from the Awards Banquet.
